We’re back in the Freedom Hotel. Our last lunch
here today. Another Nigerian melodrama on the TV. They are something to
see! We hope the plane picks us up in the morning. We have paid in the
hope we will not be bumped as we have a connection on to Nairobi after
lunch.
It is a bit emotional today.
The folk here have opened their hearts to us. We are overwhelmed by
their love and hospitality. They have endured so much and yet have a joy
in God. They have given us so many gifts that today we were humbled.
They are quite poor. Yet the worship today in the dirt floored, run down
building was inspiring. Greg preached and finished with Joshua’s
challenge to be strong and courageous and follow hard after God.
Yesterday
they killed a white bull (a symbol of peace) in our honour. We enjoyed
some tender beef. When I munched some liver that wasn’t so exciting nor
the tripe dish. Their food is pretty good. There had been a downpour
which made the ground a bog. Abraham commandeered a 4 wheel drive to
drive us through the water to the church door. Shame that didn’t happen
again as we left.
Our phones haven’t
worked for 3 days. The network has been down. Pretty annoying to us but
just a shrug here! We hurry up and wait quite a lot. Are we better at
that? A bit.
